 This was the first NASA Time Trial event that we covered and because these are 'private' events, we needed security arrangements before hand in order to access the pit/paddock areas.  The 2006 NHRA Sport Compact Showdown was a good show on a bad day. It was scattered showers most of the day which delayed coverage and the racing on the track. This also contributed to many racers having to let off to avoid meeting Mr. Wall. One of the drivers did actually smack the wall at 90+ but he walked out ok. You know what to do next.  The 1st Annual GM Street Extreme car show was a hit! The event was held on the Tamiami Fairgrounds and was an indoor/outdoor event. They had cars lined up outside and a GM Drive even were you could take various GM sports scars around a short track. Power 96 was on hand & there were raffles and giveaways.  Here is a gallery from the 2006 South Florida Auto Show held at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The show is a big event every year and it always crowded. This year the new 2007 models were introduced to the public although there weren't any prototypes on display (much to our disappointment) and some notable entries were MIA.  Here are the pics from the SPL Stats Lowrider vs. SportCompact Car Show and sound off. The show was ok, very hot and dusty due to the lot at the Polish American Center being dead grass and dirt.  Here are the pics from the Smart Sound Car Show and Show Off held in South Miami. The biggest draw seemed to be the "Unofficial Stunt Exhibitions" happening on the main road.  NOPI's Xbox Nationals were two full days of non-stop import madness! They had qualifiers on Saturday with the class championships on Sunday, and also open sessions were you could "run what you brung" so long as you passed tech inspection.  Summer Jam 2 was held on the premises of Platinum Customs in the Kendall area on a day in the high 90's with a 105º heat index. It was HOT! We unfortunately were there just after noon so the heat was crazy. There were over 100 cars there and several clubs represented. Imports reigned but there were domestics as well. Summer Jam 2. |
