Sport Compact Miami presents...
Dec 30 NASA-TT/HPDE Track Day EventWe attended the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) "Caribbean Grand Prix of Miami" event held down as Homestead Speedway. If you've never been to the Speedway, it's a HUGE complex down in Homestead, FL South of 312th St. and Speedway Blvd. It's an oval track for NASCAR but has a 14-turn road course in the infield. This is were the NASA/SCCA races are run. The NASA group is fairly large and has a wide variety of cars due to their HPDE classes or High Performance Driving Event for those that don't know.
This is where you take your car (or your mother's car, girlfriends car) out on the track to see what you and it are made of. They have 5 levels starting with the most basic, Instructor Chaperoned, all the way to wheel-to-wheel all out racing. The purpose of the program is to A) Have legal fun on a track, and B) Get your foot in the garage as far as starting a racing career.
We spent the day shooting the all the different classes ranging from stock 350Z's to full race spec Porsche GT3's. Even a crew of Spec Miata's were out to get some time on the track. We have well over 100 pics in our gallery so we hope you enjoy the series. There will be more to come for sure. Dec 30, Nasa TT Event
