Power Rev Racing (P2R) was started by the now 23 year old Sean Yearwood back in 2004. He got the inspiration to get involved with car tuning from his brother Fabian, who was was into cars when Sean was younger. Fabian was a Honda fan and drove a CRX with a B16 swap back in 1994. Obviously motor swaps were just starting to become a trend instead of the drunken ideas of crazy car enthusiasts. (You know the type. “Hey guys, you know what would be cool? If we put my 5.0L in his RX-7!”) This CRX swap and the resulting increased performance really got Sean interested in tuning cars.

When asked about what he likes so much about Honda's, he said; “I really like tuning cars to make them perform better and run faster. I am more into Honda's because I like the technology behind VTEC and the 3 lobe cam.” He also says that he really wants to show the muscle car guys that you can make big power with a Honda using technology. (Versus raw displacement. A lesson I think they are starting to study now. ;) ) Sean is no stranger to cars himself having raced several different Honda's throughout various events, (Autocross, drag, road, & track) and has several different winning trophies displayed in the P2R office.

P2R fabricates all their own components and many are being used in competitive cars such as the 2000 Si run by MLR Motorsports (http://www.mlrmotorsports.com/) (who also distribute for P2R as well.) A pair of NHRA Sport FWD Civics (EK & EG) that are putting down around 700+whp. The MLR car competes in the NASA HPDE-1 class and is using P2R's intake manifold gaskets, fuel rail, gauges, and tie bar.

THE SHOP

Another aspect of Sean's motivation for starting P2R was to have an American based performance brand as one of the top tuners in the country. He wants to have a shop where everything is done in house; designing, building, and testing. He works with a 5 man team in the shop while his mother, aunt, and girlfriend hold things down in the office. Here's the low down on Sean's crew:

P2R's new location (this is their 2nd home) is a 4500+sq ft garage with two lifts at the front and rear of the building, several work benches where they work on building and fabrication, a powder coating oven, and the newly acquired two wheel Dynocom dyno.

The dyno is not yet installed (as you can see in the pictures) but they have the pit formed and will have the dyno up and running the the next couple of weeks. This way when you drop off your car to have it tuned, and they tell you it's making +30whp, you know that they have the proof to back it up. :) They also have a car storage area inside the building to protect the customers cars while they are being worked on (definitely a good thing in South Florida!)

PROJECTS

'91 EF Civic with an Accord 3L V6 VTEC – This is their full out drag car and the one they hope to dominate Quick 16 class in.

'99 EK Hatch with a K20 swap – They run this car in Time attack.

'00 EK Coupe on boost, that has custom, paint, chromed and powder coated engine components. This car has won prizes are several car shows.
